Description
Percy French A5 Mounted Print by Piera Cirefice.
William Percy French 1854-1920 became known as one of Ireland’s foremost songwriters and entertainers. He was also a prolific painter of landscape watercolours. However, his song The Mountains of Mourne, written in 1896 tells the tale of people leaving Ireland to make a better future for themselves but always yearning for their homeland. It is an everlasting legacy to County Down where the majesty of Slieve Donard sweeps down to the sea.
